Michael A. Kumin, age 38, is a Partner with GHP, a Boston-based investment firm with $2.7 billion under management focused on growth companies under $1 billion in enterprise value. Mr. Kumin has served in a number of positions since joining GHP in 2002, and is presently a Partner responsible for originating and evaluating investment opportunities in the media, Internet, software, and business and consumer services sectors. Prior to joining GHP, Mr. Kumin served as a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Creative Planet, Inc., a venture-backed information and technology company targeting the entertainment industry. Before forming Creative Planet, he served as Executive Vice President of WMC Finance Co., a consumer finance company owned by Apollo Management, and as an Associate at Apollo Management, a $10 billion private investment partnership, where he worked with companies in a wide range of industries including media and communications, financial services and healthcare. Mr. Kumin began his investing career as an analyst with Goldman Sachs' Whitehall funds, focusing on real estate and restructurings. Mr. Kumin graduated with honors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Kumin has served on the board of directors of Spark Networks since June 2006. He serves and has served on the boards of directors of numerous private Internet companies, including BuscaPé.com and IGN.
Jeffrey J. Horowitz joined Vitacost.com on August 3, 2010 as a Consultant and was also appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors. He was named Interim Chief Executive Officer of Vitacost.com on August 16, 2010 and was named Chief Executive Officer on February 17, 2011. Mr. Horowitz is the former founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vitamin Shoppe, Inc. which he founded in 1977 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1977 to 2004. During this time, he oversaw the retail expansion from one store to over 200 stores in 11 states. In addition, Mr. Horowitz further expanded Vitamin Shoppe’s business by establishing a catalog to solicit mail order sales in 1981 and is a pioneer in the online vitamin sales industry with the launch of VitaminShoppe.com in 1998.
Mr. McConnell has more than 25 years of combined experience in finance, strategy, investing, and corporate governance and was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Collectors Universe (NASDAQ: CLCT) from 2009 to 2012. From 1998 to 2008, Mr. McConnell was a Managing Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Shamrock Capital Advisors, Inc., a manager of private equity, real estate and direct investment funds. In addition, Mr. McConnell has held various positions at PepsiCo, Merrill Lynch and Kidder Peabody. Mr. McConnell has extensive experience in corporate governance and currently serves as a non-executive director of Redflex Holdings Limited, a public company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. He previously was a Director of Collectors Universe from 2007 to 2013 and has served on the board of directors of PaperlinX Limited, Ansell Limited, Nuplex Industries, Force Corporation, iPass, Inc., Port-link International, MRV Communications, Cosmoline Limited and Neo Technology Ventures. Mr. McConnell holds an MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia and a BA in Economics from Harvard University.
